I’ve been a fan of Brandi Carlile since (like most) I heard her introspective crooning on Grey’s Anatomy.  Her latest album “Give Up the Ghost” was released last month and it seems to pretty much pick up where “The Story” left off, with the addition of a bit more alt-country twang.  ”Dying Day” sounds like an entry from the journal of a road weary touring musician longing for home, relationships and normalcy.  Musically, “Dreams” takes cues from the song “The Story” playing with dynamics and the use of Brandi’s signature raspy power belting.  If you’ve been a fan of Brandi previously or are looking for a female singer songwriter who is a little less bubble-gum-electro-pop and a lot more rock, Brandi Carlile is your girl.  Head over to her website and check out her many tour dates and pick up a copy of “Give Up the Ghost”.
