Last week I found out Paper Mango was awarded the Brides’s Choice Award from Weddingwire.com thanks to all of my wonderful clients and the positive reviews you’ve left about your experience with Paper Mango. So to those of you who left reviews, THANK YOU! And to those of you who would like to, you can do so here. The only catch is that you can’t complete the review until your wedding date has passed, so if you’re a current client, just hold tight. As you well know for us small wedding industry businesses reviews, recommendations, and word-of-mouth is our life blood. So again, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about Paper Mango and letting new brides know about our fabulous and eco-friendly invitations!

I’m whipping up some new stuff over here at the Paper Mango blog and wanted to give you a little sneak peek on some of the changes to come. I’ve got a love/hate relationship with “change”. I think I love the idea of changing things up and forging new directions, but when it comes to actually putting things in motion, I get cold feet. But I’ve been so encouraged and inspired by some of the “big thinking” going on over at Tara Gentile’s blog that I’m just going to go for it and in order to keep myself accountable to the change, I’m telling all of you!! (What are you doing, Melanie!?!)

Some of the changes (like the double Sustainability ::: WEDDING postings the last couple weeks) have already started to take shape and some are still forming in my head, but here’s where I hope to be moving towards with the blog over the next few weeks:

Monday – My original Sustainability series will still be kickin’ it strong on Mondays. (If you make something or know of some one who makes something that should be featured in a Sustainability post, let me know! )

Tuesday - For as much as I blog, I don’t talk much about what’s going on around here at Paper Mango. Tuesdays are going to start being set aside for this and will also share time with continued guest posts from Emily. I’ve got a couple other ideas that are still forming that might start popping up, but suffice it to say, there will now be fresh content here on Tuesdays!

Wednesday – Wednesday will continue to be a Sustainability ::: WEDDING feature, but will now be the first of two such features through out the week.

Thursday – The beloved Music to Create to series (Well beloved by me anyway. I love having an excuse to write about music!) is moving to Thursday! Come by to read about and hear some of the musicians that keep me inspired.

Friday - And last but not least, Fridays will now feature a second helping of Sustainability ::: WEDDING to inspire your weekend wedding planning and get things started off on the right foot!

So just to recap, there will now be new content here five days a week (enter triumphant Vuvuzela noise….okay that’s enough)! Make sure you don’t miss any of the fun by subscribing to the blog or following me on Twitter. Thanks so much to everyone who reads and comments, I always love hearing your input and I look forward to exploring these new places with you!

PS – I’m looking for some people who are interested in being guniea pigs for some side bar ads. If you’re interested, email me!for details.

Sometimes eavesdropping on Twitter leads to hearing TMI about a distant interweb friends’ skin condition, and sometimes it leads to awesome discoveries. Today I’m sharing the latter with all of my indie biz owner friends and all of those you thinking about maybe, possibly, one day trying to make some money out of your craftiness. Through a series of tweets I stumbled upon two incredible and FREE accounting resources for us self-employed folks. Like I said, these are new discoveries to me, so I’m not an expert and I haven’t read 100% of everything contained on these sites, but I’ve read enough to know they’re legit and could save a lot of people a lot of money & a lot of time. Both of which are rare commodities when trying to run a successful small business.

The first stop was at the Accounting Spot, an incredible blog dedicated to helping Etsy sellers and small business owners get their books in order. There are so many free spreadsheets, Quickbook files, tutorials, and the like that I have yet to read up on all of it. I can’t believe I just discovered the Accounting Spot blog this week, but I’m oh so thankful I did!

When I landed on the blog’s front page, there was a raving review of a FREE online accounting program called Outright. Again, I feel like I’ve been under a rock since I haven’t heard of this yet, but I’m so excited to give it a test run. From what I can tell, Outright is a super user friendly, simple, but powerful book keeping service that doesn’t require you to have a CPA to successfully set up and maintain. One of my goals for The Meetup this month was to get all of my info out of my (super annoying) MAC based Quickbooks program and into a (less annoying) PC based Quickbooks program. I think I’ll skip straight ahead to Outright and save myself the hassle.
